Some machines have an element you can see and replace on its own. Others heat inside the circulation pump housing, where the part is often not sold separately at all. We identify which you have before anything is quoted.
We are an independent repair company โ not an authorized service center of any dishwasher brand. Brand and model references on this page identify only the machines we repair, and all trademarks remain the property of their owners.

Dishwasher heating element replacement in Dubai begins with a question most quotes skip entirely: which of two completely different heating designs sits inside the machine. Get that wrong and everything downstream is wrong with it โ the diagnosis, the part, the price, and sometimes whether the repair is even possible.
The older design is a sheathed element. A metal tube loops across the floor of the tub where you can see it, both ends pass through the base to spade terminals underneath, and it heats the water it sits in. It is a discrete component. It comes off, a new one goes on with fresh seals, and the rest of the machine is left alone. Older machines and budget machines are full of them, and they remain the cheapest heating repair in the trade.
The newer design is a flow-through heater, sometimes called an instantaneous heater. There is nothing on the floor of the tub at all. The heating happens inside the circulation pump housing, in a short chamber the water passes through on its way up to the spray arms. It is faster, it lets a manufacturer place plastics lower in the machine, and it removes an exposed hot surface from the tub entirely.
It also changes the repair completely. On a good number of models the heater is not sold apart from the pump it is built into. The failure is a heater; the part on the invoice is a pump-heater assembly, at several times what a sheathed element costs. On some models the heater section is available on its own with an O-ring. On others it simply is not, and no amount of wanting it to be will change that.
So the architecture is identified before a price is put on anything, and we tell you which one you have on the same phone call. A page that discusses heating elements as though only one kind exists is a page written for half the market.
Most of this you can do yourself in five minutes with the power off and the lower basket out. It changes the conversation before it starts.
Power off, lower basket out. A metal tube running around the base is a sheathed element. A flat floor holding only the filter and the spray arm mount means the heater lives inside the pump.
Machines with an exposed element usually warn that plastics belong on the upper basket only. A manual with no such warning is often describing a flow-through heater.
The model and serial printed on the door edge, then the exploded parts list. A heating element listed as its own line item, or a circulation pump with heater, settles it outright.
Flow-through heaters spread downwards from the premium end over the last two decades. Older machines and entry-level models are far more likely to carry the visible element.
With the machine drawn out, a sheathed element shows two spade terminals passing through the tub floor with a sealing gasket at each. A flow-through machine has none there.
Ask a supplier for the element by model number. If the only thing that comes back is a pump assembly, that has answered the architecture question for you.

Cold dishes at the end of a cycle is not a diagnosis. It is a symptom shared by a dead element, an intact element that never received power, and a temperature sensor telling the control board a comfortable lie. Only one of those three needs a heater buying.
Continuity first. Power off at the socket, connectors pulled from the terminals, meter across the element itself. An open circuit means the element is finished, and that is the one unambiguous result on this page. It matters that the connectors come off. A thermal cut-out or a thermostat wired in series with the element reads as an open circuit if you test the circuit rather than the part, and perfectly good elements get replaced on exactly that mistake.
Then resistance against the specification. Continuity alone only proves the element is not broken open. Its resistance should sit close to what its rated wattage predicts, since resistance is voltage squared divided by watts. An element rated around 2,000 watts on a 230-volt supply works out at roughly twenty-six ohms, and one rated 1,800 works out nearer thirty. We compare what the meter reads against what the machine data actually specifies, rather than against a figure remembered from a different model.
Then insulation to earth. This is the test most often skipped, and it explains the most alarming symptom. Across thousands of heat cycles the seal at the end of a sheathed element degrades and moisture reaches the packing inside. The element still reads a sensible resistance and still heats. It also leaks current into its own sheath, and the RCD drops the moment the cycle reaches the heating step. If the consumer unit trips a few minutes into a wash and at no other time, that is the classic signature.
Then the sensor, which is the cheap part that imitates a dead element. The NTC thermistor tells the board how hot the water is, and its resistance falls as temperature rises. It is measured cold, compared with specification, then warmed to confirm the curve actually moves. A thermistor reading permanently hot means the board believes the target is met and never calls for heat โ cold dishes, wet dishes, no error code, and an element in perfect condition. A thermistor reading permanently cold means the machine heats until a safety device stops it. Both get sold as element failures, and the part costs a fraction of an element and a small fraction of a pump-heater assembly.
Finally, whether the board is sending power at all. An element that is electrically sound and never energised is not a heating fault, and no part fitted to the tub will change it. Where the machine switches heating through a relay on the main board, that relay is checked before anything is condemned. Cold dishes that are also soaking wet frequently turn out to be a drying fault rather than a heating fault, and the two are worth separating before money is spent on either.
Ordered so the cheap answers are ruled out before the expensive one is ever offered.
Cold dishes, wet dishes, a cycle that runs unusually long, a code on the display, or a breaker that trips a few minutes in. Each one points somewhere different before anything is opened.
Lower basket out and the tub floor read, then the model number checked against the parts data. Sheathed element or pump-integrated heater decides the shape of the whole job.
Power off at the socket, the supply valve closed, and the machine eased from its housing without trapping hoses behind it. Nothing gets measured on a live machine.
Continuity with the connectors off, resistance against the rated figure, and insulation to earth. Any thermal cut-out is tested separately rather than through the element.
The NTC thermistor measured cold and warmed, and the board checked for actually sending power during the heating step. A good share of visits end right here.
Fault, fix and cost agreed with you first. A full cycle run afterwards with the wash temperature confirmed, and 90 days on parts and labour.
Elements rarely fail from age alone. Something is usually doing it to them, and that something tends to survive the replacement unless it is found.
An over-dosed detergent belongs on this list too. Suds confuse level sensing, and a heater working in foam rather than water is a heater working dry in all the ways that matter.
Our trade licence 134585 is issued in Ajman; Dubai is a service area we cover. Cabinet Decision 66/2023 requires a documented estimate and your consent before repair work begins, an itemised invoice afterwards, and a minimum fifteen-day warranty on the work. Ours runs 90 days. If the machine is still inside its manufacturer warranty, call the brand first.

Switch it off at the socket, slide the lower basket out and look at the floor of the tub. A metal tube looping around the base is a sheathed element, and it is a part that can be replaced on its own. A flat floor with nothing on it but the filter and the spray arm mount means the heating happens inside the circulation pump housing instead, as a flow-through heater. That second design is invisible, and on a good number of models it is not sold separately from the pump it is built into. Which one you have decides the price more than the fault does.
Not on its own. Cold dishes are a symptom shared by three quite different faults. The element may genuinely be open circuit. The element may be perfectly sound and never receiving power, because a relay on the control board is not closing. Or the NTC thermistor may be reporting a temperature the water never reached, so the board believes the target is already met and never calls for heat at all. The thermistor is the cheapest of those three by a wide margin, so it gets measured before anything is condemned. Guessing at this point is expensive.
It is the most likely single cause, and it is the one symptom on this page you should act on straight away. Over thousands of heat cycles the seal at the end of an element degrades and moisture reaches the packing inside. The element still reads a sensible resistance and still heats, but it leaks current to its own sheath, and the RCD does exactly what it exists to do at the moment the heating phase begins. Stop using the machine and stop resetting the breaker. An insulation test to earth confirms it, and that is not a home test.
It depends entirely on which design you have. A sheathed element in the tub base is a discrete part: the connectors come off, the retaining nuts and seals are renewed, and a new element goes in without disturbing the pump at all. A flow-through heater built into the circulation pump housing is a different situation. Some models sell the heater section separately with an O-ring, and many do not, in which case the part on the invoice is a pump-heater assembly at several times the cost. We confirm which applies to your model number before quoting rather than after.
Not directly, but it does hide a failing one very effectively. Uninsulated rooftop tanks here have been reported at 50 to 60 degrees and villa cold lines at 35 to 40, against a dishwasher inlet figure of roughly 49. Water arriving that warm leaves the element with almost nothing to do, so a machine with a dying heater can wash acceptably right through August and then produce cold dishes in January. What genuinely threatens an element is a low water level, and an inlet screen silted by tank sediment is the local cause of that.
A sheathed element is one of the cheaper parts in a dishwasher and usually well worth fitting. A pump-heater assembly is a larger sum, and on an older machine with a tired door seal and a noisy wash motor we will set out what else is likely to follow so you can weigh the repair against a replacement. Our warranty on parts and labour runs 90 days, against the fifteen-day statutory minimum that Cabinet Decision 66 of 2023 sets for repair work here. If the machine is still inside its manufacturer warranty, call the brand first.
The temperature sensor imitates a dead element and costs a fraction of one. Both get measured before a part is offered, and the price is agreed with you before work starts.
Whether a metal loop runs around the base of the tub, whether the dishes come out cold or merely wet, and whether the breaker trips partway through a cycle. Those three answers narrow it a long way.
