Most dirty-dish complaints are not a broken machine. They are loading, a blocked spray jet or a neglected filter β and through a Dubai summer, water arriving too hot for the detergent to survive.
We are an independent repair company β not an authorized service center of any dishwasher brand. Brand names on this page are used only to identify the machines we repair, and all trademarks remain the property of their owners.

A dishwasher not cleaning dishes in Dubai is, far more often than not, a machine in perfectly good order being asked to do something physically impossible.
There is no brush inside a dishwasher and nothing ever touches the plate. Everything it achieves is done by jets of heated, detergent-carrying water thrown from rotating arms β and water travels in straight lines. Whatever stands in that line stays dirty. A bowl nested inside another bowl, a baking tray stood along the front edge of the lower basket, a tall pot leaning across the centre, plates packed face to face: each of those casts a shadow, and the surface inside the shadow comes out exactly as it went in.
The pattern gives it away. Loading faults are consistent β the same positions come out dirty cycle after cycle while the rest of the load is spotless. A worn pump or a failed heater does not pick favourites; it degrades the whole load evenly. When someone tells us the top basket is fine and the bottom left corner is always grim, the fault is usually solved before we arrive.
Second on the list, and nearly as common, are the spray arms. Lift each one out and hold it up to the light. What plugs the jets here is not limescale, whatever you may have read β it is softened food debris, fruit seeds, rice grains and a waxy residue of undissolved detergent. Two or three blocked holes are enough to redistribute pressure across the rest and leave a predictable dead zone in the cabinet.
Third is the filter, the single most neglected component in any dishwasher. A filter matted with fat and fine debris restricts the flow the pump can draw, so spray pressure falls and the water being recirculated is already dirty.
Only once those three are cleared does it make sense to talk about detergent dosing, rinse aid, wash temperature or the circulation pump. We work in that order because it is the order that costs you the least.
The first three cost nothing to correct. Work down the list rather than starting at the expensive end.
Nested bowls, trays across the front, overlapping plates. Water cannot bend around an obstruction, so the shaded face is never washed at all.
Food debris, seeds and waxy detergent residue plug the holes. Not limescale. A few blocked jets leave a whole zone of the cabinet unwashed.
Fat and fine debris matted across the mesh throttle the flow the pump can draw, and recirculate dirty water back over the load.
Tablets stored in a humid kitchen go damp and fail to dissolve. Over-dosing is the more common error here, and it etches glass.
Without it water sheets poorly, drying is patchy and items look filmed and spotted even when they are chemically clean.
Either the heater or sensor has failed, or the inlet water arrived so hot the cycle never ran its proper heating ramp. Both wreck the result.

This is the mechanism almost nobody explains, and through a Dubai summer it accounts for more dirty-dish complaints than any component failure.
A domestic dishwasher is designed around a cold fill. It draws water in, measures it, and heats it on a controlled ramp to whatever the selected programme requires. The manufacturer assumption for that inlet is generally around forty-nine degrees or below.
Dubai in July does not respect the assumption. Storage tanks sit on rooftops, many of them uninsulated, and temperatures of fifty to sixty degrees inside them have been reported repeatedly. Villa cold lines running through hot ground or an unshaded roof void routinely deliver in the mid to high thirties. The cold tap simply is not cold.
Two things then go wrong at once. First, the heating phase is truncated or skipped entirely. The machine hits its target long before the cycle intended, so the extended lower-temperature stage the programme was built around never happens.
Second β and this is what actually ruins the wash β the enzymes are destroyed. Modern detergents depend on proteases and amylases, biological catalysts that break down protein and starch soils. They work inside a temperature window and are denatured, meaning permanently deactivated, above it. Feed them water that is already hot and they are dead before they ever reach the plate. The detergent still bleaches and still lifts grease with surfactants, but the component responsible for egg, milk, cheese and meat residue has been switched off before the cycle began.
The result on the rack is distinctive. Protein soils come out baked hard onto the item rather than washed away, worst on egg pans, cheese-crusted dishes and milk glasses. Alongside it you may notice upper-basket plastics distorting or lids losing their shape, which is the same excess heat acting somewhere else.
There is a second summer contributor worth knowing. Dubai Municipality requires residential water tanks to be cleaned at least twice a year. Where that lapses, sediment works its way down to the mesh screen inside the dishwasher inlet valve. A partly silted screen gives a slow fill and a low fill volume, which means weak spray pressure and a wash that never had enough water to work with. Villa owners own that tank outright; in towers it sits on the facilities management schedule, and it is worth asking when it was last done.
What helps: run the kitchen tap cold for thirty to sixty seconds before starting a cycle to clear the hot standing water out of the line, and choose an eco or lower-temperature programme through summer rather than an intensive one. Both make more difference than people expect.
Six steps, cheapest first. Most calls are resolved before step five, and we would rather tell you that than sell a part.
Short hot programme, empty cabinet, door opened mid-cycle. Both arms should sweep freely with even, forceful jets. Sluggish rotation is a pressure problem, not an arm problem.
Each arm removed and every hole held against the light, then cleared with a wooden pick rather than anything metal. Debris and detergent wax, not scale.
Filter assembly lifted, degreased and refitted seated and locked. A filter left loose bypasses itself completely and feeds debris straight back through the pump.
Dispenser flap free to open, tablet neither stale nor damp, dose matched to the actual load rather than to habit. Rinse aid level and setting checked.
Water temperature at the tap, fill time, and whether the programme reaches and then holds its target. This is where a Dubai summer shows itself.
Circulation pump and impeller, heater, temperature sensor, diverter valve. Quoted and agreed before anything is opened, with a 90-day warranty on parts and labour.
Several of the most confident explanations in local circulation are simply wrong, and acting on them makes the wash worse rather than better.
If your dishwasher is still inside its manufacturer warranty, say so when you call and we will tell you plainly β going to the brand first is usually the better route. We are an independent repair company with no manufacturer appointment.

Because a dishwasher cleans with jets of water rather than by contact, and water travels in straight lines. Anything blocking the path leaves the surface behind it untouched. Nested bowls, a baking tray stood along the front of the lower basket, a tall pot leaning across the centre, plates packed face to face β each creates a shadow. The giveaway is consistency: the same positions come out dirty cycle after cycle while everything else is spotless. A genuinely failing component does not pick favourites. It degrades the entire load evenly, which is a very different complaint.
No, and this is worth correcting because the claim is repeated almost everywhere. Dubai supply is overwhelmingly desalinated seawater, re-mineralised to a modest level, which makes it soft rather than hard. The hard-water story is pushed hardest by companies selling water softeners, and we have never found a credible published figure behind it. Test your own supply with a strip and set the machine from the table in your manual rather than assuming the maximum. Turning hardness settings up on soft water creates problems instead of solving them.
Two very different things look similar. A mineral deposit sits on top of the surface and wipes away with a damp cloth. Etching is the glass surface itself being attacked, and it is permanent β no product, programme or rinse aid reverses it. In the UAE the etching version is far more common, because soft water plus a full detergent dose is an aggressive combination for thin glassware. If the haze survives wiping and the glass carries a faint frosted or rainbow sheen, that is etching. The answer is prevention: less detergent, cooler programmes, delicate glass washed by hand.
Scrape, do not rinse. Modern detergents rely on enzymes that need protein and starch soil to act on, and a plate rinsed spotless gives them nothing, so the detergent stays aggressive towards everything else in the machine, glassware included. Remove bones, peel, rice, seeds and anything fibrous by hand, because those are precisely what blocks the filter and plugs the spray jets. Leaving a normal film of food on the plate is exactly what the machine was designed around, and pre-rinsing wastes water for no benefit.
Because of the temperature of the water arriving at the machine. Rooftop storage tanks here are frequently uninsulated and sit in full sun, with summer temperatures of fifty to sixty degrees reported inside them, while villa cold lines commonly deliver in the mid to high thirties. A dishwasher is built around an inlet of roughly forty-nine degrees or below. When water arrives hotter, the heating phase is cut short and the enzymes in the detergent are denatured before they ever act, so protein soil bakes onto the item instead of dissolving off it.
A documented estimate and your consent before anything is opened, then an itemised invoice afterwards. That is not a courtesy we invented β Cabinet Decision 66 of 2023, Article 26 requires it of repair businesses in the UAE, together with a statutory minimum fifteen-day warranty on the repair itself. Our own warranty on parts and labour is ninety days, which goes beyond that floor. If the machine is still inside its manufacturer warranty, tell us when you call and we will say so plainly, because going to the brand first is usually the better route.
Loading, spray arms and the filter are checked before any part is discussed, because that is the order that costs you the least. Price agreed before any work.
Which basket, which items, and whether it is the same positions every cycle or the whole load equally. Those two answers point in completely different directions.
