O General has the deepest installed base of any AC brand in the UAE, and its diagnostics work differently from most: faults are reported by blinking lamps, not by a code on a screen. Reading those patterns correctly is the job.
We are an independent repair company â we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an authorized service provider of O General, General or Fujitsu General. The brand name is used here only to identify the machines we repair, and all trademarks remain the property of their owners.

O General AC repair in Dubai begins with two pieces of information that people are rarely asked for: what the unit actually is, and how it is telling you something is wrong.
On naming â O General is the regional market name for the General range built by Fujitsu General. It is a Japanese-engineered product with a very deep installed base in the UAE, which is exactly why it has been specified in so many villas, apartments and shops here for so long. It is not related to Super General, a separate UAE-owned brand, despite the similar name causing constant confusion at the parts counter.
On the platform â the ASGA wall-mounted range covers both fixed-speed units and inverter units, and they behave very differently when they fail. There is also a substantial ducted range, including newer R32 inverter ducted units, plus window units and light-commercial cassettes. Refrigerant varies with age: much of the installed base runs R410A, with R32 on newer inverter models.
Get those two things right and the repair is straightforward. Get them wrong and you end up with the wrong part, the wrong refrigerant, or a diagnosis borrowed from a different machine entirely.
This is the single biggest practical difference between servicing O General and servicing a brand that shows a code on a display.
Most O General indoor units communicate faults through their indicator lamps â typically the operation, timer and economy lamps â using combinations and repeated flash counts. The outdoor control board can also report by pulse counts for a technician who knows where to look.
So the useful thing you can do before booking is simply to watch and count. Which lamp is flashing? How many flashes in each group, before the pause? Does it repeat consistently? Note that down, or record a short video on your phone.
The blink-count diagnostic method itself is well established. The specific pattern-to-fault mappings, however, differ between model generations, and many of the lists circulating online actually describe a different machine.
Publishing a table we cannot stand behind for your model would risk pointing you at the wrong component and a part you do not need. So we read the pattern on your unit against the correct reference for that model, then confirm it with live electrical and refrigeration measurements before anything is replaced. A blink pattern tells us where to look. Measurements tell us what has actually failed.
Because we do not publish a code table, the page is organised the way a technician actually works â from what the unit is doing.
Air moves but the room never gets there. Condenser fouling first, then airflow, then charge â measured as superheat and subcooling together, not by gauge pressure alone.
Runs a few minutes and shuts down. Typically a protection device doing its job: high pressure from a blocked coil, or a sensor reading out of range.
Indoor fan runs, outdoor unit dead. Capacitor, contactor or control signal â the capacitor gets measured before the compressor is ever suspected.
Blocked condensate drain, a full pan, or a drain line with no fall. On ducted units, check the tray in the roof void.
Grinding points to fan bearings, a steady hum with no rotation to a failed capacitor, rattling to a loose panel or debris in the outdoor unit.
Batteries and line of sight first, then the receiver, then the indoor control board. The cheap causes are checked before the expensive ones.

Across a large installed base in a hot, dusty climate, the failure pattern is consistent and mostly unglamorous.
Capacitors are the highest-frequency consumable. An outdoor electrical box in a Dubai summer runs far above the capacitor's design ambient, so they degrade. We measure the microfarad value against the rating rather than guessing â tolerance is roughly six percent, and any bulging or oil weep means replacement regardless of reading.
Condenser fouling is the most consequential, because it is the quiet route to compressor damage. A coil blinded by packed dust forces the compressor to work in conditions it was never designed to sustain.
Fan motors and bearings follow, then drain blockages on both wall and ducted units, then refrigerant leaks at flare joints and coil hairpins on older R410A stock. On inverter models the outdoor control board becomes a candidate â but boards are condemned far more often than they actually fail, so we check supply quality, sensors and fuses first.
The model number from the rating plate, plus the blink pattern if lamps are flashing. This tells us inverter or fixed-speed, R410A or R32, and which parts to carry.
If the unit is still under manufacturer warranty we will say so and recommend you use it rather than pay us.
Blink pattern against the correct reference for that model, then airflow, temperature split, capacitor value, amp draw, and superheat with subcooling where refrigerant is involved.
Fault, fix and cost agreed before anything is dismantled. If a condenser clean will restore it, we say that rather than quoting a part.
OEM-standard compatible parts matched to your model, then the unit re-tested â temperature split, current draw and drainage confirmed before we leave.
Parts and labour carry a 90-day warranty. If the same fault returns inside that window, we come back to it.
âšī¸ Independent third-party repair notice: we are not an authorized service center, dealer or affiliate of O General, General or Fujitsu General. We have no endorsement from them and no authorization to carry out warranty work on their behalf. If your unit is still within its manufacturer warranty period, contact the retailer or the brand's own support channel first.

No, and this is the most common mix-up in the UAE market. O General is the regional market name for the General range built by Fujitsu General, a Japanese manufacturer. Super General is a completely separate brand owned by the Albatha Group here in the UAE, established locally in 1987. The similar names cause genuine confusion when people order parts or book repairs. They share no engineering, no platforms and no parts, so tell us which one you actually have and check the rating plate if you are unsure.
Because O General units generally do not display codes on a screen the way some brands do. Instead the indoor unit reports faults by flashing its indicator lamps, and the outdoor control board can report by pulse counts. So the diagnostic starts by watching which lamp flashes and counting the flashes in each group, then confirming that reading against live electrical and refrigeration measurements on site. The blink pattern narrows where to look; it does not by itself prove what has failed.
Deliberately not, and we would rather explain why than give you a list that might be wrong for your unit. The blink-count method is well established, but the specific pattern-to-fault mappings vary between model generations and the lists circulating online frequently describe a different machine. Publishing one as fact would risk sending you to the wrong conclusion, or to buying a part you do not need. We read the pattern on your actual unit against the correct reference for that model, then verify it with measurements.
The full range found in UAE homes. That includes the ASGA wall-mounted splits in both inverter and fixed-speed forms, the ducted range including the newer R32 inverter ducted units, window units, and cassette and light-commercial models. Give us the model number from the rating plate when you book. Fixed-speed and inverter units fail in quite different ways, so knowing which you have changes what we bring.
If the unit is still within its manufacturer warranty, contact the retailer you bought it from or the brand support channel for your region first. A repair carried out by an independent company can affect that cover, and there is no sense in paying for something you are entitled to have done under warranty. Our service is intended for units that are out of warranty, or where the owner has decided to use an independent repairer. We will tell you honestly if we think you should go back under warranty instead.
Usually not because of the brand, but because of the coil. O General units are widely specified here precisely because they cope with high ambient temperatures. What defeats any condenser at 45 degrees and above is a fin surface packed with dust and sand, which stops the unit rejecting heat. Head pressure climbs, current draw rises, and the machine either loses capacity or trips out in the afternoon. Cleaning the condenser properly is the cheapest and most effective summer intervention on these units.
Count the flashes on the indoor unit and tell us what you see, along with the model from the rating plate. That usually narrows the fault before we arrive.
The model number from the rating plate plus which lamp is flashing and how many times. Those two details do more for an accurate quote than anything else.
